Assessment
Pupils are assessed formally once each term. The assessments cover all aspects of Maths and not just the work studied in the weeks before. The assessments comprise of two written papers (one with a calculator, one without) and a mental maths test. The assessments are similar to the tests taken at the end of the appropriate Key Stage (i.e. Yrs 6 & 8).
Externally set and marked end of Key Stage National Curriculum Tests (SATs) are taken in May of Year 6 and Year 8.
Year 5 pupils take either Levels 2-4 or 3-5 papers
Year 6 pupils take a Levels 3-5 paper.
The majority of pupils in Year 7 take a paper covering Levels 4-6, however some pupils will take Level 3-5 or 5-7 papers.
Year 8 pupils take the appropriate paper chosen from Levels 3-5, 4-6, 5-7 & 6-8. The majority of pupils sit the Levels 4-6 or 5-7 papers in Year 8.
